Meanwhile during a brief stay in Riverwood, Reilina walked outside and right into the middle of a battle between the guards and a master Vampire. She tried to help and got several decent shots in with firebolts.

Alvor ran by and seemed to just scream at the fence far off to my left, whirled around and ran away to his house.

At first I just thought the A.I was being its usual fucking random self.

Then I actually saw there was a body over where Alvor screamed.

Oh.

Well then.

Highlights from Reilina’s adventuring thus far.

Courtesy of “Live Another Life” - She went to Skyrim on an expedition, desiring to get away from the politics and dangers of the Dominion and perhaps find some way to making up for the past.

It went awry and she woke frozen half to death and bleeding. Luckily there was an abandoned lighthouse not far and she managed to warm up and heal herself. She left quickly though because those clicking sounds behind the locked door were getting unsettling, not to mention the murdered people.

Stumbled into Dawnstar and knew something was wrong right away, ended up helping Erandur deal with it. Even if it was odd that the Innkeeper and his daughter were talking in her room when she woke up…

She travelled to Winterhold after hearing about the college and quickly set about learning and studying, she knew more than enough to be competent but one can never stop leaning.

During her travels and tasks she kept running into strange walls that imparted knowledge she couldn’t understand at the time and eventually found herself in the area of Helgen. The divine’s damned dragon flying away from the wreckage nearly gave her a heart attack.

Fast forward several days and Rei finds out she’s Dragonborn and suddenly considered the Thane of Whiterun after a very hectic battle with a different dragon.

She quickly extracted herself from the situation and went back to the college, wishing nothing more than disappear quietly into study again. On the way back however she was almost killed by an assassin sent by the Dark Brotherhood - someone wanted her dead. Did someone in Skyrim know who she was? Who she used to be? She folded to note and put it away, her blood turning to ice.

Returning to the college was a welcome change of pace, if weird as she jumped at the chance to help her fellow students as a means of distracting herself. The Dunmer, Brelyna, proved to be amiable company and they set off to find out just what the artefact from Saarthal was…

So I have Avaraad for my warrior needs, Elanna as my Canon-Dragonborn and sneaky arrows and daggers needs, Ashyk for my “I just want to fucking murder random people out of spite” needs and now I have a magic centred character.

Reilina, ex-Thalmor because I’m so fucking original lemme tell you. The scars on her face relate to the “ex” part. I imagine the blindness has been part of her life either since birth or due to some other event.

She can ‘see’ in a similar vein as Elanna, but Reilina’s sight is a very crude version of what was done to Elanna.

Elanna can still see details and determine colours of things if she concentrates, it’s just that everything looks really fucking unsettling and weird because she can see your veins glowing if you’re a werewolf etc

Reilina can see magical currents and energies and kind of determine the shapes of things but that’s it. It’s a black void and the only blisteringly clear thing is the magic of the world around her; it’s no wonder she focused on it so much to the point of becoming a powerful mage.

She’s usually quiet, likes to keep to herself and just study things. She’s awkward and unsure around people and usually feels an inescapable feeling of guilt around anyone who’s suffered because of the Dominion and the Thalmor in particular.

Skyrim gripes

The inability to tell questgivers “no” or the fact that even if you try to be an ass about it as a way to tell them “no” you still get the quest details in your log.

So you were just an asshole and still get invited to the party.

/sigh

Like if you don’t take the long way around you get bitched at by Aela outside Whiterun for not helping. This happened on my first Dragonborn mainly because I didn’t even see the fucking fight and by the time you run over they’ve killed the stupid thing, probably because if the giant got a hit in they’d go careening into the atmosphere.

Avaraad became interested and joined the Companions.

Elanna didn’t want to, not because she thought it “sounds like a waste of time” but because-

A) she’s more of a sneaky/stabby/arrows-from-a-distance kind of ‘fighter.’

B) Honour and glory and brothers-in-arms type scenarios don’t appeal to her, she likes working by herself and being quiet about it.

C) She can SEE what you guys are and no thank you, with her background that is a giant messy ball of NOPE.

And she would have just said “sorry, it’s just not my way” as a means of declining the offer in a non-asshole manner and gone on her merry way to report the dragons because someone apparently has to.

Let's Make Some Stories

Okay so I kind of sort of made a separate blog to post those screenshot story things for my main Dragonborn?

I might post more substantial things there, like her origin story is, but it’s just the screenshot stories for now. I have 59 potential writing screenshots total from playing through the main things of Dragonborn but still have plenty to do, along with lots of the smaller things I still haven’t discovered and/or done in the main game.

Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLC is (will be for Dragonborn) intermittently spoiled so venture in at your own risk.

Things about my other Dragonborn and stupid stuff like captions and random crap happening in-game will just be posted here as normal.

P.S - There’s Dragonborn/Serana elements all up in here so yeah.

I saved you from a Hagraven cage, fought along side you, displaying my terrifying abilities and the fact that I very clearly have a powerful, necromancer vampire at my side…

And you think you can take me in your birthday suit with an piddly little knife?

Slow Time + Nightingale Bow = Bandit Pincushion.

“Somehow you always end up taking me to the nicest places.”

“Minus one or two dozen things trying to kill us.”

Serana laughed softly and Elanna could hear the smile in her voice, “well, I’d say the fight was worth seeing this place.”

She took a breath and leaned her head back to look at the cavern’s glowing, rocky canopy, feeling for just a moment that they had stepped into an entirely different realm.

Serana’s arms slid around her waist, unexpected but not unwelcome. Elanna tensed and part of her was almost thankful for her bow and quiver keeping the other vampire’s form from pressing too close. Almost. Serana rest her chin on Elanna’s shoulder, her hands clasping over the elf’s abdomen. “I’m glad you’re here with me,” she murmured. Elanna turned her head enough to see the smile on Serana’s lips and returned it in kind, “as am I.”

So I made an vampire orc lady with the “Live Another Life” mod and discovered two things -

1) The position of yourself and the body you drink from is very important, otherwise you get really awkward moments like the first image.

2) Vampire fledglings are dumbasses who try to play the drums with tankards.
